Teen Fashion: Urban Streetwear Styles

A gift basket can be very personal and sentimental, especially if its coming from the heart. A Tea Basket can warm the heart and soothe the soul. Drinking tea allows your body to relax and gather your thoughts. Thats how the English do it. They sit down and have a of tea. This gives them a chance to relax and chat.
Tea is made of leaves and you can get it in different flavors. A tea basket is good for those who try to stay warm in the winter. A tea gift is a wonderful gift for the person who needs tranquility and relaxation in their life. You can purchase a large or small gift basket and choose what how you want it assembled.
If youre not sure of how you want to create your tea gift basket, consult with a floral shop proprietor who can assist you. Or better yet, check online for a reputable florist that is knowledgeable in gift baskets. The standard tea gift basket includes tea packets, teacups, sugar spoons, strainers, etc. You can also include edible knickknacks, like shortbread, English muffins, scones, or fruit preserves.
Assemble some of the teas that you like and some for the recipient. You should try to include some small and inexpensive china pieces or authentic ancient teacups. Find some linen cloth napkins for decoration. You may want to add a few chocolate items in there, also. The more you think out of the box, the more creative your gift basket will be.
If you dont have any specific teas in mind, check out some of these:
Peppermint tea - assist in relieving menstrual cramps in women.
Chamomile tea - helps to relax your body.
Cranberry tea - good for upset stomach.
Herbal tea - used to relieve stress.
Lemon tea - good for a sore throat (add honey).
For the person thats always on the go, you can get them a tea basket that they can travel with. Get a few flavors of their favorite tea with a festive container to hold the tea bags in. Also include a small tea spoon, sweetener packets and a small teacup.
For something a bit different, you can try Chai teas. Many people in China and India drink this kind of spiced tea. Decorate the basket by including a tea set or a Chinese fan. Theres always the Orange and Pekoe tea and they can be made hot or cold.
You can give an herbal tea gift basket in lieu of one that contains caffeine. With this, you can include scone mix, biscuits, teacups or mugs, sweetener packets, teaspoons, and much more. In lieu of regular Gift Baskets with Tea, you can give a tea chest for the person who cant live without tea. With a tea chest, you can use it as many times as you want.
If youre really into health and the environment, organic teas may be the thing for you These teas are chemical and pesticide free and environmentally sound. This helps your immune system from not ingesting harmful toxins in your body. Whatever you decide, make it warm and inviting for the recipient.

First Look: Rachel Bilsons Fashion Line

Just about every girl I know swoons over Juicy Couture's adorably comfy track suits and the like, but now there's another reason to love the brand: A brand spankin' new website.
Sure, it's got a store to browse in and fun wallpaper images to download (like the photo at right), but the really cool feature that caught my eye was "Club Couture," where gals can upload photos of themselves and rate what other members are wearing. There's also a music playlist where you can see what the Juicy owners Gela and Pam are listening to right now. I was happily surprised to see that they rock out to MGMT!

Brazilian pianist João Carlos Assis Brasil makes a rhetorical question: Do you know what is the best way of making classical music known in Brazil?

I have to answer that I dont know.

The best way is television. I had for three years a weekly television show, in which one spoke of classical music, as well as performed it. Unfortunately, it is finished now.

Without a doubt, it is television that best reaches the 150-million people in Brazil.

If one has visited Brazil, one quickly notices that television is full of MPB music, or - música popular brasileira; Brazilian popular music. It is more popular than samba and bossa nova together.

If a pianist wants to become well-known in Brazil, he needs also to play light, entertaining music and to hope that little by little there would rise an interest towards classical music in the audience.

João Carlos Assis Brasil is a classical pianist by his education, has experienced this during his long career. When he was young he succeeded in piano competitions both in his home country and in Europe. He has also performed a couple of successful concerts in Europe.

Assis Brasil did not come to Finland by accident. On Sunday at the Concert Hall of Sibelius Academy he is going to give a concert to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Finnish immigration to Penedo, in Brazil.

A group of Finnish idealists left in 1929 to establish an utopian socialist community in picturesque Penedo, which is located in the mountains and has a very pleasant climate.

The idealistic doctrine of the community did not quite work in the practical life, comments the Ambassador of Brazil Luiz Henrique Pereira da Fonseca. In the beginning the Finns in Penedo were utopian socialists but now they are capitalists who own hotels and restaurants.

My parents got 45 years ago a house in Penedo, where I spent all summers of my childhood, tells Assis Brasil.

"I got to know many Finnish people, who were warm, ordinary people. They were intelligent and spiritual. As a child I heard many Finnish polkas and other folklore songs, because every Saturday there was held a dance. This dance tradition still continues.

The program of Assis Brasil's concert includes his composition Suite Suomi-Penedo, which combines Finnish folk song melodies with themes of Jean Sibeliuss familiar piano pieces.

Most of the program of Assis Brasils concert falls into category of potpourri type suite, which represents the Brazilian taste. Brazilian audience likes to listen to Brazilian piano music offered in the form of colourful and varying medleys.

Assis Brasil is himself a master in combining different melodies. He often dedicates his own compositions, suites, to themes of a particular composer. These themes his works in a way of improvisation, skilfully intertwining passages from one theme to another. The other area close to Assis Brasil is improvisation.

In my improvisation I play jazz in my own way, as I also play samba and bossa nova in my own way.

According to Assis Brasil there are a lot of jazz like characters in Brazilian music. Choro music, which was born in the 19th century, was based on improvisation. The syncopated rhythm of choro gave a good basis for that. Choro then influenced the creation of bossa nova, and bossa nova with its syncopated rhythms often resembles pure jazz, of course with a Brazilian touch.

Many great pianists in the world have come from Brazil. Assis Brasil thinks that there exists a lot of pianist talent in Brazil.

The problem is that good pianists and their teachers, as well as the best Brazilian musicians in general, seek to leave Brazil to go to Europe or United States for better work possibilities.

Assis Brasil himself is also planning to start to work more in Europe, where there is plenty audience for classical music. His wish is to play more real classical recitals while continuing with more entertaining concerts.

There are seven symphony orchestras in Brazil according to the estimate of Assis Brasil. They are institutions maintained by the government, but nevertheless it is so expensive to go to listen to them that most Brazilians cannot afford it. The same applies to other concerts of classical music.

Want to go to Fashion Week

I've been looking at dozens of great new tech gadgets recently for an upcoming story, and this sleek little MP3 player is too adorable not to show you guys! The brand new model of Microsoft's Zune portable media player is beautifully designed, incredibly tiny, and comes in half a dozen bright colors including this pretty leaf green. Best of all? It can actually help me find songs similar to the music I already have, and I can wirelessly connect to my friends' players to see what they're listening to. Useful tools indeed for someone who still has the Backstreet Boys on their playlist!

Fashion Universe of Teens

With cooler temperatures setting in, it’s time to get a wardrobe revamp. One of the women’s fall fashion must-haves are a light jacket or a warm cardigan to keep you warm on breezy nights. Buy the ones with a new cut that suits the need and looks stylish as well. The layered look is very much in, so team up your clothes creatively for fall.
Jewel tones like purple and royal blue are some of fall’s ‘in’ colors. For fall fashion women must have a stylish dress in deep purple. Wear elegant jewelry to add a sparkle to this outfit. Cashmere wraps are a rage and they come in some amazing prints. Knee length boots in black or tan is a cool buy. Get some quality ones that will last you for a long time. Youth, Fashion, and Glossies: the Best Fashion Magazines for

Its flowing, its comfy, and its called the maxi.
Say hello to the maxi dress - the antithesis to last years mini-dress. The maxi dress is everything the mini is not. Its loose, comfortable, and romantic. It skims, rather than hugs, curves - accentuating the narrowest parts of the body then billowing out in a way that keeps bumps and lumps well hidden. Whether tiered, strappy, flowing, or draped, the maxi dress may just turn out to be a womans newest best friend.
Just how forgiving a dress is the maxi? Lets take a look at Angelina Jolie. Thanks to a seemingly endless hoard of maxi dresses, Angelina went through the awkward stages of her pregnancy looking like a goddess. While most women would have looked like blimps strolling around town with a bump the size of hers, Angelina channelled sunny, effortless chic in halter dresses, formal dresses, and evening dresses - all of them revolving around the maxi theme.

Teen Fashion Design: Custody up accompanying the Latest Trends

If you look up the word “hobo” in a dictionary, you might find yourself being told that it refers to a person who is destitute, homeless, or otherwise a tramp.  If you’re looking at buying yourself a handbag, however, the word “hobo” can have quite a different denotation.  Hobo International is a newcomer to the ranks of handbag manufacturers, but they possess a boldness of design, integrity, and quality that rival even the best-known handbag companies.
Hobo International was born in the late nineties when its founders salvaged some discarded handbag designs from a cutting room floor.  Another company had commissioned the designs, but had later rejected and abandoned them.  A group of artists, who would later move on to form Hobo International, salvaged the plans.  After some extensive edits, reworking, and an infusion of their own distinctive style, they sent the final products to market in 1990.  Since then, Hobo International has established itself not only as competent designers of handbags, but as a company synonymous with creativity, ingenuity, and success.  Hobo handbags are becoming as coveted as even the most prestigious companies in Italy.

Hobo Handbags: Design Philosophy
The design philosophy at Hobo International is a simple one: Hobo handbags are designed for women who “live by their own rules.”  The company was founded upon principles of innovation and creative design, and quality of construction and materials.  In the competitive handbag market, a design company must provide products that are as functional as they are eye-catching.  Hobo International has proved that it can do just that; the handbags Hobo designs are an intriguing balance of form and functionality.
Choosing a handbag is a process that can be as arduous as it is important.  Handbags have become an integral part of many women’s lives in our day and age, and the handbag market is saturated with choices.  Handbags are important because they provide easy access to what are undoubtedly some of the most important possessions that a woman can carry: identification, credit cards, and cash, just to name a few.  A handbag has to provide easy access, thoughtful design and organization, and an attractive exterior.
Just as men rely on a wallet to carry the things that they will need throughout their day, women too rely on their handbags to store and carry the things that are most important to them.  Still – it isn’t a secret that women are more persnickety when it comes to their handbags then men are about their wallets.  Discerning women will find a lot to like about Hobo handbags.

Teen fashion trends for school

I am into skinny jeans and vests and I just got a new pair of boat shoes, the 14-year-old said.
Alyssa and other students shopping for back-to-school clothes may be surprised by the clothes their parents wore at their age. Some of the trends from the 60s, 70s and 80s are in stores and influencing todays fashion for back-to-school.
s fashions are definitely being influenced from the past, wrote Marla Shavin, Macys spokeswoman, in an e-mail. The whole boho chic/hippie look is coming back (and) that is a throwback from the
Alyssa knows the power of vintage and even borrows some of the long necklaces, bangles and bracelets from her mom, who used to wear them back in the 80s.
But whats funny about the retro look is that no matter how hard teens may try to distance themselves from their parents, there is a fashion lesson to be learned by peering into closets from way back when.
When Alyssas mother, Stephanie Parish, was 14, she was wearing popped collars, skinny pants, high-waisted pants and military trend jackets with buttons.
Similar to todays fashion, what you wore said something about you.
Some teens from past decades stayed in the center of the fashion spectrum, sporting the popular look, while others ventured out and did their own thing.
Parents and grandparents can easily reminisce about how fashion could speak volumes about a kid going back to school, even before they opened their mouths.
When a guy wore a leather jacket, Elvis inspired bright-colored dress shirt or tight jeans, they were considered a hood, said Alyssas grandmother, Diane Lumley, who was Alyssas age back in 1967.
Many of these styles are coming back into fashion even the styles Lumley wore.

Fashion: Girls going for modesty

A 6-year-old asks at dinner, "What's a blow job?" Four-year-old girls mimic Britney Spears's pelvis-grinding gyrations. Eight-year-old girls plot how to manipulate their parents to buy them "sexy" midriff-baring tops. And fifth-grade boys tell their teacher they know you don't have to like a person to have sex with them because they've seen pornography on the Internet. After I read these real-life examples of the sexualization of childhood in So Sexy So Soon, the new book by Diane Levin and Jean Kilbourne, I felt nauseated. I have a rising kindergartner whose idea of being a big girl means going without sippy cups, and I'm nowhere near prepared for dealing with the blow job question at the dinner table. So I called up Levin, a professor of education at Wheelock College in Boston, to find out what on Earth is going on. Here are excerpts of our conversation:
What has happened? This is so different from our childhoods, when we didn't start thinking about this stuff until middle school. I just saw an ad for high heels for 6-month-olds. Puh-lease.
Deregulation of television in the 1980s led to much more violent programming for young boys, and girls being channeled more to what's pretty and sweet. Since then, we've seen increasing escalation of gender divisions, of boys being told they have to be macho and ready to fight, and girls not just being pretty and sweet but being sexy and sexualized. Even Barbie now has bigger, sexier lips to compete with the Bratz dolls.
When I look at a toy that upset me 10 years ago, I think, "Oh boy, I wish we had that now." There is a female professional wrestling toy that comes to mind. Back then, she had on a very skimpy dress and she was holding a cigarette. It was marketed to children. Her breasts got bigger every year after that, the neckline got lower. Seven years later, I got a figure of a professional wrestler in a black leather bra and shorts. The bra was unzipped; she carried a whip. It was an image out of S M pornography. I say give me back the earlier toy.
But you say that just saying no, banning Bratz dolls and violent superheroes, isn't going to work. Why not?
Industry always says it's the parents' job to say what's appropriate, that if they didn't let their kids watch it, they wouldn't see it. But no matter how much parents say no, there are things that are going to get in that they don't want--at another person's house, on the playground, or through older kids.
Secondly, if you just say no, your kids are not going to know how to deal with these things. They begin to see you as the enemy. The single most important thing is to stay connected. If a child says, "I really, really, really need to have this," say: "Tell me why you think so, and let me tell you why I think that's a bad idea. Let's think about a way how you can have it that will deal with what worries me.

Back to school: teen fashion 2008

It’s one thing to take on androgynous styles like flinging on your boyfriend’s slightly oversized shirt and transforming it into a svelte shirt-dress or casually throwing on a checkered shirt atop a dress and calling it a carefree chic day. But when you take a masculine dress shirt and deconstruct it down to a distinctly feminine piece of clothing in the form of a skirt, then you’ve deftly pushed the envelope on androgyny.
Fashionably speaking, what we have here is ingenious. On first glance, I was unsure what was before me: a tattered skirt perhaps or maybe a traditional garment of Swedish culture like the kilt is to the Scottish. Curiosity got the best of me as I continued to pore over the picture a few more times and an “aha!” moment finally surfaced.
In a gutsy attempt to move away from the tedium of fashion conservatism, it came to me that this young lady from Stockholm, Sweden had decided to alter her father’s shirt into a skirt! With several folds and tucks, she was able to render a men’s dress shirt into a very complicated silhouette that serves as a skirt.
However, as I revisited the look a couple more times (I was kind of dazed and confused by it all), the complexity of the skirt became a gift and a curse. On one hand, the oddity of the skirt was a definite lure, but at the same time it seemed all too fastidious with the make-shift skirt’s undulating folds and creases.
All the same, applause is owed to the young Swede. The mere idea can only be fathomed by a few like minds—Marc Jacobs and his inverted heel pumps—that tick to the rhythm of a different drum. That being said, curiosity did kill the cat so I’m not expecting hoards of you to all of a sudden start rummaging through your boyfriends’ closet (men, breathe easy) to scrunch up his shirts into skirts, but consider this hodgepodge skirt as a rather convoluted addition to current androgynous styles women have at their disposal. Mind you, it’s not for the fainthearted!

The patterns on Ikat textiles have a distinctive, slightly edge to them, making the motifs appear more vibrant and lively. The term Ikat comes from the Malaysian word (meaning to tie) because these colorful textiles are created from threads that are resist (or tie) dyed before they are even woven together. Imagine the calculations and pre-planning involved in making geometric patterns and intricate florals appear as if out of nowhere! We're certainly intrigued.

- Cool Hunting and Trend Hunting isn’t the search for what’s popular. It is the search for what’s NOT popular – yet. In fact, cool hunters and industry professionals typically refer to cool as the NEXT big thing. Once trends becomes mainstream, the novelty and appeal is lost. As a result, you must seek inspiration from the fringe. This means exposing yourself to the extremes of luxury, bizarre and excess. By construct, this means micro-trends have a lower probability of becoming mainstream. However, the purpose is to build a composite of trends for inspiration.

Teen Choice Awards 2008 Fashion Rundown

Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers, who was recently diagnosed with diabetes, wants to inspire young people everywhere to better manage their health. The sibling pop trio, joined by their mother Denise, presented a $100,000 check from Bayer to the Change for the Children foundation (ChangeForTheChildren.org) at a press conference in New York City earlier today. "You know, on tour it does get a little tough to manage diabetes sometimes," Nick told 'Entertainment Tonight' with his mom by his side. "Life is kind of difficult as it is, and when you throw diabetes on top of it, it would be even more difficult. So to be able to have the tools we have today, like the Contour Meter, really manage your diabetes accurately and efficiently is really nice." Watch the report below the fold.

Black Fashion @ Teen Choice Awards

I am sad to announce that Sean John will be not be having a runway show during the upcoming Spring 09 fashion week. Diddy will only be hosting an editors presentation of his spring line this month. I am not sure why he decided not to show during fashion week, but I think this is not a good move for him or Sean John. Last years show was amazing, and fabulous. The last thing fashion weeks need is less minority designers showing their lines, especially since there are already a huge lack of minority models being used in major shows.

I know a girl who suffers from the terrible condition known as Label Tourette She has this tic where, if she is mentioning a piece of her clothing or someone compliments her outfit, she immediately blurts out its designer: Marc Jacobs, . This self-proclaimed fashion obsessive — who failed to identify Naomi Campbell in a Superbowl ad — irks me to no end with her — or lazy fashion, as I dubbed it. While Max Azria and Marc Jacobs are talented designers, they are — to me — are a bit mainstream and only the tip of the fashion iceberg.
Point is, you do not need to wear MJ or BCBG to be fashion-forward. Lable Tourette is perhaps the most irritating faux pas a fashionista can commit. I have to admit, if I have been particularly proud of my label, I have mentioned it, but I do it discreetly and would never blurt it to a crowd as if it were a badge of honor or superiority. Honestly, when I am complimented, I try to breathe it in, say a sincere thank you and stay mum unless they ask further questions.
What do you think? Do you or anyone you know suffer from Label Tourette.

Further, nano silver is intimately and permanently blended into the fibers of fabric and will last for the life of your Pooghe garment. It will stay fresh with cold water washing, saving 60% of the energy needed to heat the water and eliminating the need for chemical bleach.
During a time when many companies are outsourcing production overseas to save costs, Monte has taken it upon himself to enhance the local economy by ensuring that the entire collection of his base layer garments are made exclusively in the USA.
Pooghes second line has expanded to include garments ranging from socks to tees to leggings, all made out of Supima cotton, the latest and most luxurious feeling cotton whose texture, as Monte said, can only be described as Every aspect of this sleek and sexy line was designed by Monte, even the weight of the cotton, and has been made to give an absolute perfect fit with complete comfort. Monte is truly passionate about his craft and is dedicated to creating the best fitting product for his customers.
Monte says it best: You have to want your customers. Since 2007 when Monte, a retired naval hospital corpsman, created the first collection of Pooghe Laundry he has striven to listen to what customers want the most then act upon it. Monte describes his philosophy, If you really want to sell something ask your customers what they really want, and then WOW them. After interviewing hundreds of people, Pooghe Laundry has brought together the latest in SmartSilver nano technology and the latest in high-end fashion. Pooghe fits every lifestyle, from the most active to the most glamorous, from moms, to athletes, to celebrities.
Pooghes latest collection will be available for purchase at Pooghes website, www.pooghe.com and at select retailers across the United States. More updates on which stores will be offering Pooghes latest line will be available shortly.

THE SCOOP: Fashion Rocks 2008; Curtis Jackson vs

Looking for something new and different to do? Well, there is a brand new trend developing among young adults that offers a unique twist on an old time favorite, the slumber party. The Cuddle Party!! A Cuddle Party is an increasingly popular non-sexual form of a co-ed slumber party. You just invite a bunch of your favorite friends who may or may not know each other or you can invite your favorite couples, throw in some cute snacks and soft pillows and the party is on! Cuddle parties encourage conversation, a little affection and the attention that we all crave. The key is to have an entertaining but nonsexual party. You can have a discussion or debate. Watch a movie, have a listening party with the latest CD or discuss a book, poem or a spoken word piece. The entertainment is optional but don’t forget the focus…to cuddle with someone else and have some non-sexual but affectionate fun.
TDO wants to know what you think about this new trend. Is it cool or creepy? Send in your comments today!

Lucy Liu Wins The Incapable of speech Medal In Bazaars Fa

Today, Bravo aired a preview episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta. It's official, this series just can't lose. With a mostly African American cast, the show focuses on the gated-community set of the South's high society. These women don't seem nearly as outrageous as those from earlier seasons set in Orange County and New York City, but one — Kim, the only white woman — clearly stands out from the pack, as far as the grossness we love to hate goes. She's a single mom with two young girls and a boyfriend named "Big Papa" who doesn't ever want to be seen in public and buys Kim fully-loaded Escalades whenever she wants. It sucks that we have to wait till September for the season premiere. Check her out in the clip above.

Teen Fashion Games Launch at Fashion Fantasy Game.com

Lets face it, we can barely contain our enthusiasm for the release of High School Musical 3. Rumor has it that our wish will be granted in the fall, and thats not a moment too soon, because those girls have serious style. Their clean cut panache and preppy good looks have all of us here at Fashion Fantasy crushing on their girl-next-door approach. And little miss Sharpay Evans (better known as Ashley Tisdale) might be a bit on the spoiled side, but she sure knows how to make a statement.
Whether its a day spent at the beach, dancing in front of the camera, or rocking the red carpet; Tisdale always puts a fresh spin on traditionally safe looks. Right now, everyone is loving ridiculously cute summer dresses and bright primary colors are all the rage. Miss Sixty has furthered this trend with cutting edge boho-chic headbands, flowy sleeves, oversized clutches, and can’t miss sunglasses. This look is just so posh and in the moment… in a word, irresistible.
The best part? This look seamlessly translates from day to evening without skipping a beat, and all of the pieces play nicely with other ensembles. We can just picture Tisdale jumping around the set decked out in Miss Sixty. And if you want to rock the frock while playing Fashion Fantasy, we definitely have you covered.

Fashion Trend: Initial Bijoutry

Miu Miu Fall 2008 Runway
Personalized jewelry is a must-have for the fall season. Spotted on the runway of the Miu Miu Fall 2008 runway, each model that graced the catwalk wore her own first and last initials.
You can add a bit of mall mystery to your wardrobe by wearing the first letter of your first name, the first letters of your first and last name, or even the first letters of your complete name (yes, even that middle name you never like to say out loud).
In the words of Shakespeare, “What’s in a name?” Apparently a lot of letters. So, keep it short and keep ‘em guessing with just your initials.
