This is just a quick note, to set a few things straight, as there are some things that have been p*ssing me off of late [Website – Amy Grindhouse]
This post is only for the leeches that I seem to have acquired by running this blog and does not apply to most who will be nosey and read it anyway (having said that, if you even think I may be talking about you, you are probably right and should read on).
I am a one-woman blog and frankly, I am not your f*cking free blog-advisor. I have been nice, thus far, and very open as my regular readers are the same way. I am not, however, anyones blog consultant. So basically, unless you are a very good friend to this blog, stop asking me inane questions. Youre driving me potty!
I have been spending a lot of time lately, spoon-feeding some fellow bloggers. Dont get me wrong, I am all about using the blogosphere as a community and connecting with people with similar interests. However, one thing I have never done is beg another blogger for tips or outright jacked their sh*t.
I work very hard at researching everything that goes into making this blog. I have spent years developing the ideas behind the concept and months researching the elements, in order to put it together.
For example, each post, on here, takes up to 45 minutes and 8 sources to write and is accompanied by (mostly) licensed images and official HQ video. So, you can see why it chaps my arse and saps my energy, not publicly flaming people who I can see have been lazy and ripped off my ideas/ work/ leads/ images/ links. If you run your own blog, and especially if you started before me, you shouldnt really need so much help from a noob, eh? Work it out your mudderfunkin self and stop hittin me up when you get stuck/ nicking content and formatting/ otherwise biting my style.
Dont be lazy. Youll get no more freebies from me. Do your own research!
I only have so many hours in the day and I would rather spend them blogging than hand-holding.
Again, for those who read this post despite the above disclaimer, I am not flaming 95% of those who have read this. Just saying is all. I know this post sucks b*lls, but it needed to be said.

I guess most people know I'm a grad student. I'm doing a PhD. In Biochemistry and no I don't know why either. Sometimes I love it more than anything. Sometimes I hate it more than I thought possible.

Anyways. Three days ago I officially (lol) started my third and final year of it. I am both terrified and over the fucking moon that I actually made it this far without getting kicked out/quitting/killing myself (and wow, I never thought I'd seriously be able to talk about, let alone joke about that, but apparently a year and a half is enough time so o/).

The thing is, I may think the last two years have been tough, but they're nothing compared to what I'm about to go through (for the record- because someone said, long ago, that I acted like a PhD was the hardest thing ever and I was acting like other occupations/life choices were less- I am well aware that it is self inflicted and that it's probably very annoying to hear me bitch and whine about it). This next year is going to be horrific- I'm already in lab 7 days a week and I'm kinda hitting the ceiling in terms of what I'm capable of, and I'm getting frustrated by a lot of things. I'm not naturally smart- I have to work really, really hard to get to the point where, it seems, so many of my peers naturally are. And whenever I can't do something because it's beyond my limitations, I take it really hard. And it's only going to get worse. I get insomnia anyways, and it's always worse when I'm stressed and the less I sleep, the crazier I get and...well, yeah.

I'm going to go from spending most of my time thinking about lab to spending almost all of my time thinking about it. Which means less time thinking about Ryan Rossy's stupid fucking face or how gorgeous Travie is or how faily Cash is or Pete Wentz. Less time writing (and man, I'm going to be resenting that a lot) and probably less time flailing about the stupid things they do.

I've always mostly posted RL stuff flocked, and fic unlocked. Fandom squee tends to fluctuate between the two states. I know what I'm like- I'm still going to post lots, because it's my method of venting, rambling in here. I don't expect responses or anything, it's just a way of getting it all out.

ANYWAYS. I have to say too- thank you so much to everyone who's been there for me over the past couple of years. You have no idea what your suport means to me. I don't have anything IRL apart from my parents who're 300 miles away and put a lot of pressure on me without meaning to. My IRL friends are all either in the same position as me, or don't want to hear about my problems. So thank you for being there, for being an ear to listen to me, a shoulder to cry on and a pair of arms for internet hugs when I've needed it. Defending a man accused of killing three people, attorney Gary Pohlson took an odd angle in his opening statement.

He said his client is "guilty of all three murders."

Pohlson told a jury Tuesday that Skylar Deleon killed Arizona couple Tom and Jackie Hawkins, who were thrown off their yacht and bound to an anchor. He also killed another man he met in a work furlough program, Pohlson admitted. But the lawyer argued his client should not die for his crimes.

"My goal is simply to save Skylar Deleon's life," Pohlson said in a 15-minute opening statement.

The concession is not the same as a guilty plea. Pohlson said he will dispute some details of the prosecution's case. The attorney indicated his client should not face the death penalty because others involved will have different outcomes of their cases.

Deleon is accused of killing the couple in 2004 to steal their yacht, as well as a man he took thousands of dollars from the previous year. The 29-year-old former child actor has pleaded not guilty to murder and murder for financial gain.

The defense strategy stunned Ryan Hawks, the 32-year-old son of Tom Hawks, who came to hear testimony.

"I was blown away," Ryan Hawks said. "Thank God I was sitting down."

Pohlson said outside court that he told jurors Deleon was guilty to maintain his credibility when he argues they should preserve his client's life. Orange County prosecutor Matt Murphy said he wasn't surprised by the strategy.

Earlier, Murphy told jurors the couple took a cruise off Southern California thinking they were showing off their yacht, the Well Deserved, to an interested buyer and ended up pleading to be spared death.

"The evidence is going to show that is how Tom and Jackie Hawks died, begging for their lives," Murphy said.

Deleon has allegedly boasted that he was a star on the "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" but apparently only had a small part in one episode. The RANGER BOARD, especially, takes great pains to make a bold note: "Skylar Deleon was NOT a Power Ranger. He was an uncredited extra, at best."

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for Deleon, who they say drafted a plan to kill the Hawkses after learning they were planning to sell their 55-foot yacht in November 2004.

They say Deleon feigned interest in buying the nearly half-million-dollar yacht, then enlisted the help of two men to overpower the Hawkses on the cruise before forcing them to sign over paperwork for the yacht and killing them.

Murphy took jurors on a step-by-step outline of how the case unfolded after the Hawkses disappeared and family and friends began to frantically search for them around Newport Harbor, where they docked their boat.

Murphy said Deleon and his former wife, Jennifer Henderson, were a young couple saddled in debt and living in a converted garage.

After the killings, Murphy said Henderson paid a notary $2,000 to backdate paperwork to transfer ownership of the yacht and Deleon had a friend show her color photocopies of the Hawkses' drivers' licenses so she could describe the couple to police as if she had seen them.

Murphy said Deleon initially tried to enlist his friend Adam Rohrig to drive the boat while "he made two bad people disappear." But Rohrig refused and didn't take Deleon very seriously, Murphy said.

After the killings, he said, Rohrig asked Deleon how he was going to get away with it.

Murphy said Deleon answered: "No bodies, no murder."

Henderson was convicted in 2006 of murder and murder for financial gain for her role in the deaths and was sentenced to two terms of life in prison without parole. Three other men have pleaded not guilty to murder and murder for financial gain and have yet to stand trial. One is expected to testify in Deleon's case.

The jury will also consider the separate murder charge against Deleon in the death of a man he met in a work furlough program in 2003 while serving jail time for burglary.

In some places, teen girls started repurposing this "freedom" to opt to go to the school dance with their best friend even though there was no romantic interest involved. The date-based school dance ritual began crumbling decades ago in different ways across the country. Thankfully, schools caught up and many stopped requiring dates to attend. This, in turn, motivated many teens to eschew dates altogether.
If you're an adult, think back to your own teenage years. How many of you hated your homecoming or prom date? How many of you went with a friend of the opposite sex with no romantic feelings? How many of you stressed about finding a date, keeping a relationship going long enough to make it to the dance, or otherwise dealing with the potential dramas of being single for the dance? Now, imagine if the school said that you no longer needed to have a date. And imagine if the social norms caught up so that not having a date was not a stigmatized reality. What's happening is not a radical shift in teen friendship practices. It's about the collapse of an outmoded, outdated mating ritual. It has nothing to do with technology. It has everything to do with social norms relieving unnecessary pressures that no one liked anyhow. Teens aren't going date-less because friendship is suddenly more important. Teens are going date-less because it's socially acceptable and teens haven't wanted the pressure to have a date for decades. Dating is much simpler when you don't have to secure a date for an important night months ahead of time and then fret about the possibility that that tenuous relationship might fall apart. Even teens who are dating would prefer to buy a single ticket, go with their friends, and meet up with their significant other at the event.
Why this is so shocking to people is beyond me. Teen dances are finally looking more like 20-something dances than images of dances from the 1950s. How do 20-somethings to to bars, clubs, and other events that involve dancing? They gather with their friends, and go out en masse. Those who are dating include their significant other in the group and there are often networks of connections to other groups going out. The fact that teens are modeling 20-somethings should not be surprising to anyone. Teens have long modeled up. Why shouldn't they be modeling contemporary practices instead of those that only exist in the movies?
Please... can we get real about teens? Can we please realize that what they're doing is totally logical given broader societal norms and not some radical cognitive change?
PS: Teens are still dating and many find having a significant other to be important. Some value that sig-other more than they value their friends, but the old sayings of "bros before hos" and "chicks before dicks" still stand in most communities. But to think that teen dating is gone is completely foolish. Just because teens don't want "dates" doesn't mean that they don't want sig-others.

Personal Life


Kirsten's parents separated several years ago. Her father, Klaus Dunst, a German medical services executive, stayed in New Jersey. Her mother, Inez Dunst, a Swedish former art gallery owner, moved to California. Kirsten has a younger brother, Christian, born in 1986.


Kirsten graduated from Notre Dame High School, a private Catholic high school in Los Angeles, in 2000. She is currently working on her own production company with her mother, called Wooden Spoon Productions.
