The week has been filled with churches, museums and markets, but also especially with music. On Thursday, a few friends I made in Puebla took me out to a couple of their favorite bars and clubs. I left my hostel at 9:30 pm, and didn't end up back in my bed until I wandered in around 9:30 am, groggily grabbed breakfast and stumbled back into the dorm for the two hours I could use before checkout. I haven't pulled an all nighter like that since college. Then of all people, I met a Mexican man who had spent 10 years in Edmonds, WA (or "Deadmonds" as he called it), just outside Seattle.

One thing that really fascinates me is how the gospels developed over the years.В  Until I took these classes in Christianity, I thought that the four Gospels had come down to us in their original form, that they were written in the time of Christ and had preserved the actual occurrences while Christ was on the earth.В  But thats not quite true.В  Have you ever noticed that Matthew, Mark, and Luke are rather similar?В  Scholars now believe that Mark was written first, and that Matthew and Luke borrowed from Mark, as well as from another source the scholars have termed В  John was written later, and does not share the same sources, which is why it is so vastly different.
But those four Gospels arent the only ones that had been written.В  Those are just the Gospels that a group of men felt were acceptable as part of Christianitys Scriptures.В  There are many more gospels that had been written but were viewed as heretical by the Catholic church.В  You can read about them more HERE.В  Thats why I have a hard time believing the Bible is the literal Word of God, though.В  Ive done enough research to know that man, not God, has decided what was good enough to go into the Bible and what wasnt, and how are we to know that we chose the right things to include?

Also please note the covered bridge in our pictures. This was probably our best fall colors drive. As I have learned about other nature sites the colors look better from far away. The pictures donapos;t really bring out the colors, but they look spectacular when you look out at the mountains dotted with the various fall colors. Also certain combinations of trees are really pretty and some individual trees are just spectacular. We parked in Stow for the night. I didnapos;t realize so many things come from the small state of Vermont: Ben and Jerryapos;s Ice Cream, maple syrup, cold pressed cider, cabot cheese, Vermont teddy bears, chocolates and there even some wineries.

I did welcome letters, and packages (we found a CSI kit at B N, and terrariums at fry's), for delivery on Sunday morning with a note from the Hogwarts Owls saying that due to the immense number of things needing delivered they had had to split it into two deliveries. I wound up staying up until 3 a.m. Thursday night, 4:30 a.m. on Friday night, 4:30 Saturday night, and 5 am last night getting the texts finished. I was up by 10 every morning, by 9 on Saturday so we could go see Grandma before DH's eye dr appointment. So I am EXHAUSTED. But there should be less stress as far as school for a while.

Herbology- I found mini terrariums at Frys on their clearance section last fall. I am hoping they will still sprout. If not I will be buying new seeds at OSH this weekend. They need to be watered once then will recycle the water as long as you keep the top on, or up to 4 months, so it seems pretty easy easy to maintain. We have to plant them, figure out where to put them where they get the right light, (one needs SW, one needs SE and one needs E), and check daily for changes. One is a "Princess' garden" with gemstones to decorate the terrarium, and make a path through the garden, which will grow into tiny flowers. Another is a "Dragon's Lair" which has lava rocks to decorate it and a plastic dragon to hide in it, it has seeds for some dark grasses and unusual flowers. The last one looks like an easter egg. It is in an egg shaped terrarium with seeds in a disc of plant food that will grow into polka dot plants. Which looks kinda like ivy only it has pink spots on it. I made her a log for her to circle each day when she checks her plants, C for any changes, (she describes lower on the page), and N for no change. Once a week she needs to draw a picture and write about one of the plants.

I made up or found an activity for her to do after each chapter. Some are on the disney fairies site, where she can make her own fairy, decorate her fairy home, tour Fairy hollow, and play games there. Some are more active, (like acting silly to cheer someone up), or hands on, (such as laying in the tub and singing so she can hear herself like a mermaid). And some are in the workbook, some writing, (What do you think your talent would be and why), some coloring and some more fun activities like crisscross or word finds. About 20 pages for the 30 chapters. She follows along with each chapter on CD. then does her activity for it.

Arithimancy- I made a workbook with about 35 pages of math from single digit addition to simple division, adding fractions, telling time, and money. We also play lots of card and board games.

The second is a Gombey Dancer. I may have bought this when I went to Bermuda with my grandmother, cousin, and aunt. The trip was a high school graduation present from my grandparents. My aunt and cousin were such sticks in the mud, I shouldn't have bothered to go. We went shopping once or twice. We toured some hotels. And I saw some flowers. When I said my cousin and I should go to the Swizzle Inn for some nightlife on our long weekend, he said he'd rather watch a movie at the hotel. (I couldn't go alone because after the minibike disaster*, there was no way I was driving a scooter. Nosiree.
